Love146 and no more overnights!

So lately, theres been a lot going on. As youve noticed. I havent posted in a few weeks. But with the holidays, things have been goin crazy so Ive been distracted.

But the good news is that I am no longer working an overnight shift!!!

Woohoo...after 2 years if subjecting myself to torturous sleep patterns I am now back to normal...whew....

I actually did some research and found out that working overnights have an effect on the body that is the equivalent of smoking 2 packs of ciggarettes a day...considering Ive never smoked a cigarrette in my life, I would say thats not fair...lol..

But on a more serious note, I wanted to share about an organization called Love 146. Its a faith based organization that was created to get rid of the child sex slave industry all over the world.

Now to be honest, I am not an activist about anything really, but one thing that I have found really ignites a passion in me is preserving the innocence of children.

Its a ripple effect that starts with kids and sticks with them until they are adults and then that trickles over into their childrens lives and their childresn lives. The point being is the ole saying that the children are the future and it is so unfair and monstrous that there are people out there who would rip a childs future away due to lustful desires.

The reason Ive been thinking about this lately is that its the giving season....yeah...yeah...yeah..

Trust me, Im even rolling my eyes at myself as Im writing this. But the fact is that we take things for granted.
The child sex slave business is a 32 billion dollar per year industry.
As Americans we spend 17 billion dollars on valentines day alone each year. Thats half of the industry in one year.
So here it is...here is my activism good deed of the century...lol...
Check out Love146.org and watch the story of girl number 146.

This really hit me hard and I think its just that to become an adult, you shed some of the magic that being a kid provides and I think its the saddest thing in the world to purposefully take that from a child before they ever get the chance to see what being a kid is like.

Shut up and buy UP!

Up FINALLY Comes out toooodddaaayyy!!!!

I absolutely looovveeddd this movie. If you didnt like this movie then you never had an imagination.

It made me laugh, cry and cry some more. It was just awesome.

Tuesdays are kind of one of my favorite days of the week. You know why? Because thats when DVDS and CDS are released and since I work an overnight shift, I am always super excited about getting off of work and going straight to best buy to get the brand new release of whatever it is Ive been IM-patiently waiting for.

Also, if you know me, then you know that I love going to mutimedia stores and just looking. I dont know what it is but it just calms me and gets my mind off of whatever is going on in my life.

About a year ago, I started working at FOX news. At the time I worked some 3:00 PM - 12:00 AM shifts. The good thing about this was, that I work one block from time square. Pretty cool huh? Well, what was cool to me was that the Virgin mega store (which is no longer there :-() was open until 1:00 AM. So after a stressful day of news gathering, I walk over to times square and pop into one of the biggest multimedia stores around. What a great way to end the day.

It always fascinated me at how much just looking pleased me. Movies are what i know and this is my way of getting in touch with my true passion..Cheesy right? Thats also why I feel I am one of the few people who actually loves going to the theater and doesnt mind going by myself.

Dont give me that crap about "Oh, its just too expensive, or I can download it". Its just not the same to me. Its the whole experience of going to the theater and seeing it on the big screen the way it was intended. Plus its an escape. Theaters have always had this magic to them. No matter waht movie theater I go to, I always enjoy it. Even if the movie wasnt that great.

Well enough about my thoughts. UP is out today and come December weve got ALOT to look forward to. Harry Potter and the half Blood Prince and many others are comin out and i cant wait. Im such a nerd.

Welp, thats about it.

Keep me accountable

So I havent written in this thing forever. To be honest, I dont feel like things hve been exciting enough to write about: In my career that is. Ive been sooo focused on trying to make the next move in TV that I have forgotten to really enjoy the things taht are happening.

Well, since we last talked, I started working at FOX news channel, the national station in New York. Since Ive been there, Ive been on the overnights and lord knows I can go on and on about how the overnights suck BUt at the same time i could go on and on at how much Ive learned during the process about myself and doing what it takes to make it in this crazy ol business.

The seond thing is, that I got engaged...woohooo..yeah booooiiii. My Fiance, Jennifer is amazing....or am I just saying that? Well, the fact that the girl puts up with my cranky, overnighter, sleep deprived attitude most of the time while still maintaining control and not ripping out her hair, is proof to me that she is the one.

Also, There are not many girls who enjoy watching Family Guy with me and when she starts quoting lines from it, its just adorable.

Ummm,. lets see...My buddy Trey got married and I was his best man. Not gonna lie, I was pretty nervous just trying to make sure I did everything right and being 18 hours away from georgia made the planning for the bachelor party a little nerve rackinga t times but everything went down without any problems. We headed to Orlando for a weekend of Boys being boys, at Disney World...yes, A bachelor party at Disney World.

Bachelor party at a strip club...Bachelor party in Vegas, all these things have been done, but take a group of guys to Disney and thats where the real creativity comes out....wow, that sounds really bad...actually we are not big partiers, the worst thing we did was drink a moderate amount of alcohol. And we are all over 21. So there. Also, it was just great to reconnect and get out of the North for a little bit.

Anyway, long story short is I need some type of creative outlet so im going to try and update this once a week. I will write about anything I feel like. New cds I bought, new movies Ive seen, videos on youtube that have me craking up. If you care to listen to my thoughts on any of this, feel free to keep me accountable and tell me.

HEY Big and Awkward! UPDATE YOUR BLOG LOSER!!!!

Once a week

Hey everyone! So I know I forget to write in this thing but Im gonna try and remember to update at least once or twice a week.

Where we left off.....
I was looking for a job and I am now working as a trainee for Fox Broadcasting. Its been a great experience and I have met a lot of cool people and done some cool things.

Through Fox I have met Method Man, Evan Handler (Charlottes husband in Sex and the City), Val Kilmer. I was able to attend the release of Antonio Banderas's newest fragrance and was an inch of going to the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull red carpet premiere and the Dark Knight Black Carpet Premiere. SO needless to say it has been a ride.

I dont write all this to brag, I am just very greatful for all the support that everyone has given me and I want them to know that their faith in me has paid off and God has used everyone of you to bless me. SO thank you for that.

So Ill try and keep it updated and Ill talk to yall later!!

Take a Dive

Hey yall!! The job search continues. Im waiting to hear back from a place tomorrow about a part time job and I applied to a temp agency. SO they should get me some work soon. Other than that, things are great. I am staying with another graduate from GCSU and we are going to move into together at the beginning of march.

I will say that God is definately testing the patience with the job search. Of course, I am the one that up and left Georgia without an apartment, without a job, to try to break into the television industry in NEW YORK CITY in the middle of a strike!!! Yeah, I made it easy. I didnt complicate things at all...lol...but if I can give some words of advice (if you dont want to HEAR my advice then your in luck because I will be typing it instead of speaking it).

Advice: Just do it. Seriously. Especially if you want to live in one of the weirdest most non-normal cities in the world. You just have to do it. Sell your car. You wont need it. Get a nice bookbag or feau-designer handbag, getcha a map of the city and just do it. There is no easing into it, walking in the shallow in, weening into the situation. Take a dive.

So I will let you know when i resurface from the deep in and have a job and a permanent place to live. Have a great day and stay warm/cool wherever you are!
