So lately, theres been a lot going on. As youve noticed. I havent posted in a few weeks. But with the holidays, things have been goin crazy so Ive been distracted.
But the good news is that I am no longer working an overnight shift!!!
Woohoo...after 2 years if subjecting myself to torturous sleep patterns I am now back to normal...whew....
I actually did some research and found out that working overnights have an effect on the body that is the equivalent of smoking 2 packs of ciggarettes a day...considering Ive never smoked a cigarrette in my life, I would say thats not fair...lol..
But on a more serious note, I wanted to share about an organization called Love 146. Its a faith based organization that was created to get rid of the child sex slave industry all over the world.
Now to be honest, I am not an activist about anything really, but one thing that I have found really ignites a passion in me is preserving the innocence of children.
Its a ripple effect that starts with kids and sticks with them until they are adults and then that trickles over into their childrens lives and their childresn lives. The point being is the ole saying that the children are the future and it is so unfair and monstrous that there are people out there who would rip a childs future away due to lustful desires.
The reason Ive been thinking about this lately is that its the giving season....yeah...yeah...yeah..
Trust me, Im even rolling my eyes at myself as Im writing this. But the fact is that we take things for granted.
The child sex slave business is a 32 billion dollar per year industry.
As Americans we spend 17 billion dollars on valentines day alone each year. Thats half of the industry in one year.
So here it is...here is my activism good deed of the century...lol...
Check out Love146.org and watch the story of girl number 146.
This really hit me hard and I think its just that to become an adult, you shed some of the magic that being a kid provides and I think its the saddest thing in the world to purposefully take that from a child before they ever get the chance to see what being a kid is like.
