Genesis (The beginning)

Ok. Wow!!! So it all started in September of 2006. Now its almost September of 2007. God works in super crazy ways. If you dont know me and just randomly stumbled upon my blog, my name is Tyler and I am a Senior at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Ga. My major is Mass Communication with a concentration in Tellecomunications, specializing in T.V. Broadcasting...whoo...thats alot to say aint it?

Well, This blog is primarily to share with the masses, my experience in New York City, working for the man....not the government, but the real man, David Letterman!!!! I am an intern in the Human Interest department at the Late Show. I am living in Kensington, Brooklyn which is right next to Prospect park (Yeah, Im not sure where it is either) but its a cool place and about a 45 minute train ride from the Studio so its not bad.
"What do you do Tyler?"
Well, I am glad you asked, basically I am one of the many gatekeepers in the H.I. Department who looks for people to bring on the show for bits like Stupid Human and pet Tricks and other average Joes and Josephines who can do weird and interesting things. My job is to skim through newspapers and magazines to find any stories potentially interesting. Once I am done with those, I go to watch tapes and laugh at how funny people THINK they are...but they really arent. Then I move back to the newspapers and magazines.

So far, I have not met any celebrities but i do have stories about some of the perks of the job.
On Tuesday, I am sitting in the conferance room hanging out with the New York Post and the Miami Herald when three Late Show employees walk in carring a box and a large bag each and said that McDonalds had donated 100 Big macs and 100 cartons of fries to teh late Show staff...no one really knows why, but we partook in the friendly gesture and continued on our business. Then, I get back to my conversation with the Herald and Paul Shaffer starts walking down the hall, playing an accordian. he then stopd in the doorway of the conferance room and continues to play while talking with one of the producers....wow!!!, Eating FREE McDonalds and getting seranaded by paul Shaffer (inadvertantly) in one day!!! So that was pretty cool. Thats really all I have right now for ya. I am having a blast getting to know everyone and I get to watch the rehearsals on the closed network, up in the office building so the perks are pretty awesome. Well, I really want to leave you with a catch line but I cant really think of anything clever to leave you with so sleep good...or well...I guess....See ya bye!
